How to bag the best bargains on Cyber Monday with vouchercloud Australia vouchers
Savvy shoppers, listen up - Cyber Monday is nearly upon us, which means great deals and discounts on all of your favourite brands. This American shopping event has hit Australian shores and it’s set to be bigger and better than ever in 2020.
What is Black Friday and Cyber Monday?
Black Friday and Cyber Monday are some of the biggest sale dates in the shopping calendar. The ‘Black Friday’ tradition began in the US, landing on the Friday after Thanksgiving and marking the start of the Christmas shopping period. Stores all over the country offer staggering discounts and flash sales on this date, in a trend that has grown to be an international sensation. ‘Cyber Monday’ is a more recent phenomenon, falling on the Monday immediately after Thanksgiving and Black Friday. This was initially a one day event of online sales, matching the kinds of discounts found in brick-and-mortar stores on Black Friday. In 2020, the increase in online shopping has seen the two days become a glorious four day (or more) shopping event, with big name brands starting their sale events on or before Black Friday, running right through until the end of Cyber Monday.
When is Cyber Monday this year, and what can we expect?
This year’s Cyber Monday will fall on November 30th, but we’re anticipating the sales to begin well before then. Make sure you mark Black Friday in your calendar too - many retailers will roll out the discounts on November 27. It’s likely that offers will be added to existing sales on Cyber Monday, so if you can resist spending your whole Black Friday budget in one go, it’ll be worth holding off until then to get some great discounts!
What we’re expecting in the Cyber Monday sales
Computers, phones and all things tech
The Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales saw record discounts on tech products in 2018, and this year we’re expecting the trend to continue. If you’re in need of a new setup, keep an eye out for the Kogan sale - last year they slashed selected laptops and phones by up to 50%, and we’re expecting similar discounts this year. Make sure you sign up for Amazon Prime so you’ll be first in line for their legendary ‘lightning deals’ - we’re predicting big discounts on Amazon Echo and Fire Stick products, as well as across the board savings on other branded desktops and laptops
In 2018, eBay and Apple did not disappoint with the Cyber Monday madness - discounted gift vouchers were up for grabs, perfect as a Christmas gift for your tech friends (or for yourself) - keep an eye out for similar savings this year. Speaking of Apple, we’re hoping to see the new iPhone 11 on sale this year, after it’s highly anticipated release in September.
Fashion and lifestyle gear
It’s not just tech that’s set to go on sale this Cyber Monday - update your summer wardrobe before the festival season hits, thanks to the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales! We’re expecting major online retailers like THE ICONIC and ASOS to offer site-wide sales this year, making it easy to find that perfect NYE outfit. Myer is set to pull out all the stops again in 2020 - after offering up to 50% off selected clothing for men and women last year, we’re expecting similar great reductions across the range, making it the perfect place to stock up on bikinis and board shorts.
If you’re predicting some fitness-based resolutions for the new year, get one step ahead and stock up on stylish gym gear in the Cyber Monday sales. Last year Nike and adidas both offered great discounts on selected items, so make sure you get in quick this year to stock up on workout essentials.
Gifts for the gamer girls and guys
Gamers, listen up - Cyber Monday is set to be BIG. As well as discounted gaming consoles - The Good Guys are our top pick for the best deals in that category - keep an eye out for slashed prices on games from Steam. This gaming hub keeps its cards close to its chest when it comes to sale dates, but we’re anticipating the Black Friday fever to hit a few days earlier this year on Wednesday 27th (if not before). Last year some games were featured at 70% off, so it’s worth making a wishlist! Dell offered great savings on gaming PCs and laptops last year, so keep your eyes peeled for similar sale prices if you’re in need of an upgrade.
